On Thursday night I had the pleasure of seeing John Butler’s raw and solo ‘Tin Shed’ tour at the Astor Theatre. Unfortunately my phone camera ran out of batteries so no photos were taken.
“I’m really excited about this tour. There is something special about stripping all the bells and whistles off and really feeling the power of less is more.” This statement by Butler held true, the show displayed his raw talent; it was just his voice, guitar and bass pedal; no ‘trio’.
Along side the songs that were played, the crowd was also given an insight into his writing, and where he gains his inspirations for his work. We were lucky enough to hear a new song that he had written, called “Kimberley”. Take a listen to the song, and have a listen to the lyrics, we can once again see Butler’s political/environmental activist nature at work. As he explained, the song is about the industrialisation of North Western Australia.
